*Monday, 3rd August 2026 - 22:12 UTC+0100* **Tags:** #blog #escapism --- Following up from [[2026-08-02 - Another Month on TERF Island|yesterday's blog post]], specifically the bit in which I mentioned fanfiction writing as a form of escapism. I have noticed that reading fanfiction could also be a form of escapism. I have found quite a story over on FIMfiction - [Spectrum by Sledge115](https://www.fimfiction.net/story/374221/spectrum) - and it is a very good read. It's one of those stories from the Conversion Bureau series of fanfiction stories and yet it is a doorstopper north of 600,000 words. Albeit lengthy, it is something I will be able to read right the way trough, provided I have sufficient time in which to do so. I know I will have the time to read the 677,563 words it currently sits at. Seeing a fanfictioon that large reminds me of my earlier attempts at writing fanfiction. I had managed to make a doorstopper of my own - several fanfictions, jumbled together as the chapters were sorted into chronological order, numbering somewhere in the region of 1.75 million words of averagely written fanfiction. I believe I still have an old version of it somewhere, but the writing was not the best so it would never be published. I have been working on writing better fanfiction, amongst a great many other things, and hopefully luck will favour me in the endeavour. --- *← [[Blog|Back to Blog]]*
